15 fourth-graders planted and launched two floating wetland modules last week as part of Spring Camp sponsored by the City of Norman’s Parks & Recreation Department. The floating wetlands planted are the ones we built in a workshop last October.
The students learned about the roles wetlands play in cleaning water and providing wildlife habitat, planted soft rush (Juncus effusus) plugs, and braved VERY windy and cold conditions to set the wetlands afloat in a pond in Griffith Community Park. And were then rewarded with a pizza lunch!
